The article proposes a brief historical and conceptual review of the Armenian diasporic processes and their enclave in Uruguay in different historical periods. From a bibliographic review, it outlines possible research interests to understand in depth the dynamics of ethnic belonging and identification within the framework of a national society. Armenia is one of the various migratory groups that arrived in Uruguay at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th and that formed the population base of the country. This community, deeply integrated into the roots of the nation, has managed to give continuity to its identity based on cultural traits and traditions that constitute a phenomenon of ethnicity that is transmitted through the generations and in dialogue with the community of origin. The relationships within the community, the ways in which new components -with different characteristics and motivations but linked by the imaginary cord of identity- are linked with these groups of already several generations, represent a research space with enormous potential.
