This article investigates the use of images that take as their theme some aspect of Cervantes's novel El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de La Mancha in spectacular activities during the Guerra Grande. For this, the relationship between advances in experimentation with the image and its political uses in the context of the Guerra Grande is analyzed, taking into account the changes in social consciousness and the new formats of aesthetic contemplation that the incorporation of the image in social activities propitiated. In the same way, a reading of the force that the image has in the Cervantine novel is proposed from its text and the early uses that were made of it in illustrated editions of the novel as well as representations of episodes for uses that are not related to the book as an object.
