Abstract

This work aims to shed light on the processes of defamiliarization of topographical references in the narrative La Guerre (1970), by the French writer J.M.G. Le Clézio. The text seems to rediscover naively through the character of Béa B., the contours of our contemporary modern societies, explored through the establishment of a founding scriptural regime for the wandering of the characters. Reflection of a collective condition, the War is, therefore, the subject of an investigation. Hyperbolic metaphor of the daily and universal violence, the novel explores its potential for aggression towards the self. Its definition constitutes a challenge for delimiting a global sense of the work. The key to this impasse is to be found in the physical wandering of the characters, which forges, as a mirror, the one of the reading experience. Thus, we will ask ourselves how the wandering of the characters can lead to a poetic de-centering experience, and to what extent the resulting hermeneutics allows us to explore the reconfiguration of the individual's relationship with the world in a postmodern context.
